Leadership & Entrepreneurship

    • Leadership Banner

As a leader in Bilingual & International Education FASNY not only aims to provide students with the best in academics but strives to help them become empowered individuals with leadership and entrepreneurial skills that will allow them to succeed in the ever-evolving world. Within both the academic framework in class, as well as extracurricular offerings FASNY is able to provide students of all ages these important and dynamic opportunities that will help to shape their futures.
Starting in preschool, students participate in activities that connect classroom learning to the real world. Guest speakers, visits to the local fire department or post office, cooking lessons, coding projects, podcast recordings, and more spark curiosity and build foundational life skills. These experiences help students understand how their education relates to future opportunities and personal growth.

By Middle School, students begin to actively explore potential career paths through their coursework and events like Career Day. Supported by the PTA and our dedicated FASNY parents, Career Day exposes students in grades 6–10 to a wide range of professions, industries, and career paths. Through interactions with professionals, asking questions, and hearing real-world experiences, students gain valuable insights into the skills, education, and personal qualities required for various jobs. The goal is for students to leave the event feeling equipped to make informed decisions about their future, whether it’s choosing courses, exploring internships, or evaluating college opportunities.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

In High School, students are empowered to take ownership of their interests and develop leadership skills through opportunities like the Future Business Leaders of America club, participation in national and international conferences, and student-led organizations. Clubs like the Future Business Leaders of America, attendance at national and global conferences, and even student-led clubs enable students to have ownership of not only their interests but also to learn how to lead both while at FASNY and when they continue their academic and career journeys as they graduate.

A standout experience is the 10th grade Entrepreneurship Program, which cultivates creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. Students develop and pitch startup ideas, supported by weekly classes and mentorship from local entrepreneurs. They explore market research, marketing, and financial planning, culminating in a team pitch to a jury of educators and business leaders. A final four-day internship lets students apply their knowledge in real-world settings. The program is more than a business course; it builds confidence, resilience, and a spirit of innovation, preparing students to be thoughtful, capable leaders in any path they pursue.
