About

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

    • DEI Banner

In connection with the FASNY mission, we are committed to equity and inclusion across age, cultural tradition, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, physical ability, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic position in order to support all of our students’ learning and well-being. We strive to build and nurture a culture where the inclusion and empowerment of diverse voices among faculty staff, students, and FASNY families is a way of life and not an initiative.
Being a school with an international focus, we draw strength from the diverse perspectives of our community, and ensure diverse voices are included in decision-making and shaping of school culture. To benefit from our inherent diversity, FASNY must ensure that everyone feels included, valued, and respected inside and outside of the classroom. Our school is more than a place that sets ambitious academic goals for our students, it is a place where our students feel safe, cherished, and empowered, and where their ongoing well-being is of paramount importance.

In our ever-changing world, our work to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will continue to evolve in order to support our commitment to a safe and inclusive school environment for all.

FASNY Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force

Issues of racial equality and inclusion are included at every level of the School; from the Board of Trustees and School Leadership, teachers and administrators, down to the students. In June 2020, the FASNY Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force was created to work within the School, across all constituencies, to eliminate racial inequality within FASNY. Composed of 17 members, inclusive of parents, students, alumni, faculty members, school administration, board members, and the Head of School, the goal of the DEI Task Force is to promote inclusivity within our community and to increase diversity of race and ethnicity across all divisions.
Currently, the DEI Task Force is focusing on six domains. Upon further review of these six areas within the School, the DEI Task Force will make recommendations for change that the school leadership will consider. The task force will have the ability to recommend change and to monitor the progress within the School:
