Academics Overview

Two Pathways, Shared Excellence

At FASNY, students embark on one of two rigorous academic pathways, each rooted in excellence and designed to align with their goals and aspirations. Whether pursuing the French Baccalauréat or the International Baccalaureate, every student is challenged to think critically, lead with purpose, and grow into a global citizen. These two programs reflect the dual spirit of our school: the depth and rigor of the French educational tradition, and the openness and inquiry of an international perspective.

Our immersive bilingual Preschool program lays the foundation for cognitive flexibility, cultural awareness, and academic curiosity. As students progress through Lower and Middle School, they are given the opportunity to continue in either the French-American or International Program, allowing families to choose the pathway that best aligns with their child’s learning style, language background, and long-term goals. This thoughtful progression culminates in High School, where students narrow their path to finish their FASNY journey in either the French Baccalaureate Program or the International Baccalaureate Programme, with the opportunity to graduate with the French Baccalauréat Français International (BFI) or International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP). Both programs open doors to top universities around the world.

While each student’s journey is distinct, they share a common foundation of academic excellence, a focus on learning, and character development. No matter which path they choose, every FASNY graduate leaves with a strong academic foundation, intercultural competence, and the tools to thrive in a complex, interconnected world.

Learning at FASNY

At FASNY, students are in the driver's seat of their learning. As a Visible Learning school, we empower our students to see their learning for themselves—to know not only what they are learning, but why it matters and how to recognize their own success. This approach is built on our six learning principles: planning, goal setting, active learning, attitude, feedback, and well-being. When teachers and students embrace these principles with a growth mindset, teachers maximize their impact and students take ownership of their learning. FASNY students learn from mistakes, view feedback as fuel for growth, and see challenges as opportunities. Most importantly, they are excited to discover what comes next.
