Athletics

Our Programs

Students at FASNY benefit from a typical American athletic program, combined with weekly physical education classes, as mandated by the rigorous French educational system.
The interscholastic sports program at the high school provides a safe and competitive learning environment. It instills the skills necessary to participate in a lifetime of athletic and recreational activity while developing leadership and team spirit.

Physical Education

Physical education is built into the students' weekly schedule.

List of 3 items.

  • Middle & High School

In the middle and high school, there are two to three hours of physical education classes per week. Offerings include running, swimming, soccer, rugby, basketball, volleyball, dance, judo, tennis, squash, rock-climbing, and more.
  • Lower School

At the lower school, at least 2.5 class hours per week are devoted to PE, in addition to the many opportunities students have for physical activity during recess. We offer movement classes, accompanied by music, for a rhythmic, relaxing, and focused experience.
  • Preschool

In preschool, gross-motor skills are developed several times a week as part of the learning experience, recesses are spent outside, and our annual Olympics event is a big favorite among kindergartners.

Interscholastic Teams

Leagues

FASNY teams compete in the:

  • Fairchester Athletic Association - Middle School
  • Independent Schools Athletic League (ISAL) - High School

Many top-level public and private schools compete in these leagues, as well as teams from New York City schools.
