About

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

    • DEI Banner

In connection with the FASNY mission, we are committed to equity and inclusion across age, cultural tradition, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, physical ability, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic position in order to support all of our students’ learning and well-being. We strive to build and nurture a culture where the inclusion and empowerment of diverse voices among faculty staff, students, and FASNY families is a way of life and not an initiative.
Being a school with an international focus, we draw strength from the diverse perspectives of our community, and ensure diverse voices are included in decision-making and shaping of school culture. To benefit from our inherent diversity, FASNY must ensure that everyone feels included, valued, and respected inside and outside of the classroom. Our school is more than a place that sets ambitious academic goals for our students, it is a place where our students feel safe, cherished, and empowered, and where their ongoing well-being is of paramount importance.

In our ever-changing world, our work to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will continue to evolve in order to support our commitment to a safe and inclusive school environment for all.

FASNY Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

FASNY strives to be intentional in every aspect of its DEI programming in all divisions and areas of the school. While much progress has been accomplished in recent years, we acknowledge that even more needs to be done to ensure members of our community continue to be valued, and their stories and perspectives heard, to ensure equity and inclusion happen in our school.
Within our DEI work, FASNY focuses on six domains. With the partnership of the DEI office, DEI committee, School Leadership, and the Board of Trustees, progress and updates within these domains are monitored and constantly evolving in order to provide the best for all within the FASNY community:

DEI Work in Action

In recent years, the DEI office has implemented programming, redoubled efforts to invite speakers to our three campuses to speak on various topics around identity and equity, broadened opportunities for students and staff to attend conferences, workshops and meet peers beyond FASNY, to gain an even deeper insight into the US context and history.
