It's Computer Science Education Week. To mark the occasion, students in kindergarten through grade 9 participated in an Hour of Code and other coding activities.

Hour of Code was introduced in 2013 as a one-hour coding challenge designed to give students an enjoyable first experience with computer science and has since become a worldwide celebration of learning. This year, students in more than 180 countries registered to take part in an Hour of Code activity during Computer Science Education Week (December 3-9).

FASNY joined in the celebration in the classrooms during the weeks of November 26 and December 3. As part of it, many students watched and then discussed a motivational video recorded by President Obama four years ago encouraging them to pursue careers in the field of computer science.

Parents are welcome to participate in their own Hour of Code by trying their hand at this "Classic Maze" activity. Happy coding!
