We offer here highlights of the winter season to date, plus a preview of spring athletics.
- The swim club, a new offering, had a successful debut. More than 50 students signed up to participate under the helm of Mrs. Delphine Golebiowski. A word of thanks to FASNY parents and the school administration for their support in getting this venture off the ground.
- The ski club is enjoying a banner season, with several fully subscribed trips to date. Only a few spots remain for the weeklong outing to Gore Mountain in February; if interested, please sign up as soon as possible.
- Our basketball teams are winning matches, especially the girls. We appreciate the school community's continued support in coming out to cheer on all of the teams.
Looking ahead to spring, the girls rugby team will resume play in a new league created exclusively for Westchester schools. Don't miss their first practices in March. The boys varsity team will play in Division I this year and have the opportunity to compete against top teams throughout the spring, in the run-up to the New York State championship tournament in Binghamton on June 1 and 2. Please be on the lookout for registration forms to sign up to play rugby or our other spring sports offerings: tennis, track and field, and baseball.
Finally, from June 9 to 14, FASNY is organizing an international games week at the Pontiac facilities in the Berkshires. Seventh graders will have the opportunity to compete against their peers from about a dozen schools in the United States, Canada, France, and Latvia in the following sports: tennis, cross-country, soccer, basketball, ultimate Frisbee, and swimming. Additional details to follow.
