Sixth through eighth graders in the middle school art club came to school on a Saturday in December to start painting the mural that will eventually cover the entire span of a 24-foot-long wall near the Village campus library. They spent weeks planning for it—brainstorming ideas and completing preparatory drawings and watercolors—and will meet twice more this month to finish the project.
"A collaboration among 24 students, the mural conceptually focuses on the fragility of our Earth and protecting the environment and civilization," explained middle school art teacher Victoria Rolett, the art club's advisor. "The themes and the painting are completely student-driven. I am super proud of the amazing job the students have done working together to create something much larger than any of them individually could."
